PADI Sidemount Diver Course


Below are the details for the official PADI Side Mount Diver Course designed for the recreational diver (released by PADI in March 2012). Your instructor selection is very important for all your sidemount training especially the initial training.



Course Goals are to;


Explain the benefits of sidemount diving

Develop student ability to assemble, configure and wear sidemount diving equipment

Guide students in the skills required to plan and make no stop recreational sidemount dives

What will we do..?

Course will take 3 days (minimum)

1 Confined water session

3 Open water dives

Recommended course time (24 hours over 3 days)



What do I need to start..?


PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent rating)

15 years of age

Upon completion of course you will receive a specialty certification "PADI Sidemount Diver"

Mask & Suitable Fins

Suitable Exposure Protection

All other equipment provided

What can I do once certified and what to try next..?

All future specialty courses can now be done whilst wearing sidemount once you have done one for the initial sidemount course(s). See my other sidemount course options like the tec advanced sidemount wreck penetration course.
